Changes to FPL’s Residential Air Conditioning Program Standards Effective Jan. 1, 2015

New federal manufacturing equipment standards for residential air conditioning that raise the minimum energy efficiency standards from 13 to 14 SEER will go into effect Jan. 1, 2015. As a result, the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) Residential Air Conditioning Program Standards have been revised. The revised Program Standards will apply to any systems where installation is completed on or after Jan. 1, 2015. The most significant change is that FPL will no longer pay rebates on 14 SEER units. In addition, the other rebate amounts have been modified to reflect the incremental impact of the increased minimum SEER on all other higher SEER systems. Please see the new rebate table below.

Residential Air Conditioning Rebate Schedule* (effective Jan. 1, 2015)

*Air-cooled equipment – straight cool and heat pumps

Please note that system installations completed by Dec. 31, 2014, are eligible for the current rebates. Rebate certificates for systems installed in 2014 must be properly submitted and received by FPL within 60 days of installation. For systems installed on or after Jan. 1, 2015, rebate certificates must be properly submitted and received by FPL within 30 days of the install date. Any rebate certificates that are untimely delivered to FPL will be ineligible for rebate.

Visit FPL.com/resacprogramstandards on or after Jan. 1, 2015, to view the revised program standards.
